Hiding in Plain Sight
I was looking at some images that I took on a trip to Florida last year.  I remember capturing the image that is the foundation for this piece.  I kept hearing the sound of a woodpecker, but I couldn’t find this little guy for quite a while.  And, then, I relaxed, because I thought he’d flown away.  Suddenly, he appeared again, and I did find him. It was so obvious as to where he was, I couldn’t believe it!  He was right there all the time.  This made me think of times when I struggle with a problem, obsessing at times because I can’t seem to find a solution. And, then, when I do……it was so obvious!  How did I not see the answer before?  I can’t answer that, because I still keep doing it!  However, this little woodpecker just reminded me of how silly it is to get more and more stressed over whatever the issue is.  Just relax, and odds are, the answer will appear!

Morning Thoughts
This piece finds it inspiration in the mundane!  One morning, I thought about how sometimes my thoughts are very muddled and scattered in the morning, much like the outer edges of this piece.  Then, I take a bit of time to write in my journal, and my thoughts, feelings and plans for the day become much clearer.  The ray of sunshine in the photo image in this piece reflects the bit of clarity I receive as I take the time to reflect in my journal.

Light the Way
For this week’s Foto Art Friday, I chose an image I took and converted to a painting type effect from a stop Jeff & I made while touring Cartagena, Columbia.  I love the weathered textured appearance of the wall, and how nicely balanced the arch and wall sconce were.  This is an image taken in the Palace of the Inquisition, and as I thought about this piece and where it wanted to go, I thought about how knowledge and learning throws a light on all behavior.  I layered in some Spanish text pages into the background to emphasize the idea of knowledge and learning, and added in some additional written words to further compliment the background.

Abstract Art – Sea Floor
There was something quite magical about snorkeling in the Bahamas.  One big piece was how clear the water was.  As I swam around looking down for multicolored fish, I couldn’t help but notice what a wonderful background the sandy sea floor provided.  And, then when I looked closer, I saw the lovely shapes and designs created by the waves rolling over the sea floor.
Abstract Sand at Bottom of Sea
I don’t know how the shading and lines could have been drawn more perfectly than to create this wonderfully peaceful feeling image.  I only know I had nothing to do with it!
Sea Bottom Abstract
I don’t know exactly what caused the color variation – perhaps a bit of broken reef or sea weed that is just starting to grow from the sea floor.  The ironic thing about this is that when I was snorkeling, I wasn’t wearing my glasses, so what I saw was a blurry version of these images.  I’m glad to say they look even better when seeing them with 20/20 vision!
Leaf Impression in Sea Bottom
I don’t really know if that truly is an impression of a leaf in the upper right of this image, but it certainly looks like it could be.  However, I have no idea where any leaf of this shape and size could have been, as there were none in the area.
Sunshine on Sea Bottom
As I mentioned before, the water was remarkably clear and it was very easy to actually see the sun shining thru the water down to the sea floor.  It created the lovely shading that you see in this image.

Believe in Yourself
This week’s piece finds its inspiration in a sunrise in Central America.  We were on a cruise, and I woke early in the morning off the coast of Nicaragua.  This was the scene that greeted me when I stepped out onto our balcony.  It was very humid, and my camera lens fogged up almost immediately, creating the effect of the image.  The thought expressed in this piece was one that came to me when I thought about how difficult decisions seem to become much easier when we just believe in ourselves and are true to what’s in our hearts.  Even if it’s an unpopular decision, we can take comfort in knowing we were true to our core self, and those who truly care for us and about us will understand that.
