Glacier National Park Treasures

Glacier National Park Treasures

Even with the Going to the Sun Road not totally open, there were still some special treasures to see in the Park.  Here are a few

Clear Water

These rocks are in the creek bed of Avalanche Creek, in Glacier National Park, in Montana, USA.  The water rushes so quickly, it takes on the look of an abstract painting, with suggestions of various colors to brighten up the canvas.  But no, this is a photographic image, with the abstract quality compliments of Mother Nature.

Rose Creek

This image captures a treasure that can be found on the eastern side of Glacier National Park.  The water is as cold as it is clear, and it is incredibly clear!  It tumbles down from the snowpack further up the mountains and is rushing on its way to St. Mary Lake.

Enjoy!

The Green of Eastern Washington State

The Green of Eastern Washington State

Certainly one of the things the Pacific Northwest is known for is how green everything is!  This blog post is celebrating that fact!!

In the Glade

These lovely flowers are found along the road where we were visiting family.  The lighting  of the white blooms, reaching up toward the sun in between the shade of the trees, is gentle enough to truly set them off.

Early Summer Fields

The lucious colors of early summer sparkling greens, true blues, and white whites are all evident in this image of the fields in eastern Washington state.  As summer progresses, the colors may change and eventually wash out as fall and winter approaches, but for right now, they are magnificent.

Barn Near Field

I’m not certain why type of barn this is, but I love that so much of it is open, so that there’s a light airy feel to it.  The setting it’s in is perfect bright blue sky, field of canola behind it, a fence in front and some scruffy weeds!  It was a perfect early summer afternoon for some wonderful country views!

Field of Green

This old barn perfectly offsets the new growth in the area where it sits.  The bright yellow-green fields are canola fields, and the blue sky with a streak of white is compliments of Mother Nature.  The scruffiness of the area immediately around the barn most likely speaks to the livestock that used to frequent it.

Layers of Green

This scene is from eastern Washington state, and as nice as it looked at a photograph, I decided to give it a slightly different spin and convert it to a painting, just for a sense of fun and whimsy.  I hope you enjoy it.

Farmhouse on the Hill

I have photographed this farmhouse before, and it was deserted back then as well.  There’s something that speaks to me about this house, perhaps the history of a family, or several families, all working the fields, until now.  I wanted to save this image in a different way from a photograph, so I converted it to a crayon-type drawing, as a tribute to the children that grew up in this house.

The Farmhouse

This farmhouse has definitely seen better days and is home to much family history.  It seemed only appropriate to capture it with a more vintage finish.  Think of the families who lived here over the years, working the fields, raising children, caring for parents and grandparents.  If only these walls could talk.

Enjoy!
