Summer Clean-Up
We had just finished cleaning up after the summer clearing out the greenhouse and stacking firewood for our upcoming fires in the fireplace, when I noticed a few interesting natural intimate landscape portraits.  I purposefully processed each of these with a different effect, just to enhance them!
Almost Gone
There’s a bush with a bit of green leaves still left.  Those leaves are surrounded by landscape rocks and other fallen leaves from a larger bush that towers over it.  I thought it might be fun to process this one as a poster full of bright color!
Summer’s Debris
In a slightly different location, there were other leaves that just spoke of being the debris left over from the summer foliage.  For this image, I thought an impressionist painting effect added a nice touch.
Leftover Leaves
Just off from the above scenes were some slightly larger stones and just a few leaves mixed in among them.  The red leaf caught my eye and was the focus of this image that I processed to look like a more realistic painting.
Last Bit of Green
And, finally, a “true” photograph!  This of the portion of that bush that is being oh so persistent in remaining green!
Enjoy!

Last Burst of Color
Around my home, autumn is putting on a show in its final days.  These two images portray two very different approaches it takes…..
Autumn Color
This is autumn at its most brilliant.  The reds, oranges and touches of yellow are the traditional colors that come to mind when we think of fall.  But, there’s another side…..
Autumn Grass
There’s also the more subtle, and some may argue, the richer, colors of autumn that this autumn grass is portraying.  Which is the best representation of autumn?  I think that’s for each individual to decide!

Inevitable
This piece speaks to the time of the year when summer is giving way to autumn.  Some look forward to the new season, while others want summer to remain a while longer.  But, no matter how much one wishes for the warmth of summer to remain, the crisp of autumn will certainly come.  The lesson of autumn is that change is inevitable, and our ability to thrive depends on our resilience to the changes around us.

Autumn Raindrop
It’s rather unusual for it to be very rainy here where I live, in the desert Southwest of the US.  However, the other day, it was raining off and on all day.  When I looked out at the tree in our front yard, the leaves were all turning from green to gold.  And, in the rain, they all looked a bit bedraggled.  I did go out between showers, tho, to see if there was an image to be had.  Nothing was extremely photo-worthy, but I did notice a raindrop just hanging from the edge of a gold leaf, with brownish edges.  I decided to use a close up of that image as the foundation for this piece.  It was such a close up, it became somewhat abstract, so I decided to go with that, and just made the piece about all the different signs of autumn – leaves turning colors, from green to gold to red, bare trees waiting for winter, and birds taking wing to their winter retreats.  It’s a time of endings, and beginnings, too, depending on one’s perspective.  I’m looking forward to the change of season.

Autumn Leaves
It’s that time of year again fall!  It is probably my favorite time of the year, with beautiful colors bursting out all over, even in my home state of New Mexico.  Much like leaves on the ground, this piece is full of leaves placed somewhat haphazardly.  And, yet, there is a sort of balance to the shuffle.  The last of the summer birds are also winging thru the sky, heading for warmer climates.  This piece is intended to capture the brilliance and beauty of this most changeful time of the year!

The Path Less Taken
I had been thinking about the Robert Frost poem “The Road Less Traveled” and I remembered an image I captured a few years back when my husband, Jeff, and I were walking in the woods not far from where we live in New Mexico.  The image was of a path in the woods, one that clearly was not taken very often by hikers.  And, yet, it held great promise, with sunlight glimmering up ahead, just out of view.  The image that is the foundation of this piece brings the feeling of that poem to mind.  Sometimes, it is the path that not many have taken that will yield the best rewards in life, but only if we chance it and follow it.  As Robert Frost said, it can make all the difference.

Autumn Day
It’s getting to be that time of year again – autumn.  My husband and I were in the Moab, UT area, driving along a mountain backroad when a beautiful autumn colored scene appeared.  In the mountains, the air was crisp, but not yet cold – in short, a perfect early autumn day!  I decided to savor the memory of this time in this piece.  Hopefully, you live in a place where you, too, can enjoy the colors of autumn!
